Rapid roof refurbishment using surface covering and joint welding in a single operation. The new version of the refurbishment membrane VEDAPOINT O

The refurbishment membrane VEDAPOINT O developed for the restoration of flat roofs by Vedag GmbH can be directly laid on existing sealing or other functional coatings. As only half of the surface is provided with adhesive spots, trapped moisture can evaporate via the extensive vapour distribution zone which is already created during installation. A special film torchable on the underside now permits easier and more rapid processing. The surface and joints can be rapidly and securely welded in one single operation during installation.

The quality of today’s bitumen membrane systems enormously increases the durability of flat roofs. This progress is likewise demonstrated when the material is laid. Roof work can now be conducted even under unfavourable temperature and weather conditions. In order to make handling of refurbishment membrane VEDAPOINT O during high winds easier, the detachable protective film on the underside has been replaced with a special film, which is entirely torchable. The surface and the joins can thus be welded in one single operation; and in addition, waste is avoided.

The raised adhesive spots activated by the soft welding process quickly adhere to the pre-treated underlay. Between the adhesive spots, 50 percent of the mineralised surface remains non-bonded. This creates a vapour distribution zone, through which the remaining moisture can evaporate from the existing roof without tension. A highly tear-resistant and elastic support lining made of glass fibre-reinforced polyester fleece stabilises the single-layer membrane. Blue-green slate ensures a corresponding appearance on the upper surface.

The technical values of VEDAPOINT O are far above the minimum requirements of DIN EN 13707 and DIN V 20000-201. VEDAPOINT O meets all requirements for “hard roofing” under DIN V ENV 1187 Procedure 1 in a system, has been confirmed by a general building inspection test certificate and is used for maintenance and refurbishment of existing bitumen-compatible sealing.
